Class of 1976 Reunion Celebration

On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome back the Class of 1976 as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of leaving St George's. Twenty-two former pupils attended the special reunion, enjoying a wonderful day of friendship, memories, and laughter.

The day began with coffee and an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, many of whom had not seen one another for several years. Conversations flowed easily as guests shared stories and caught up on life since their school days.

They thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the school led by one fabulous Upper 6 and noted the many developments that have taken place over the decades while also commenting on those familiar corners of the school that have changed very little. The tour sparked countless memories, with stories being shared at every turn and much laughter accompanying the recollections.

Before lunch, guests gathered for drinks, providing another chance to reminisce. Current Head, Carol, warmly welcomed the group and Liz Mendl reiterated this and said a few words of thanks.

A delicious lunch followed, culminating in the famous St George's Sweet Apple Charlotte, a nostalgic favourite that many remembered fondly from their school days. The dessert proved to be a perfect finishing touch to the celebrations.

Throughout the day, the archives display proved extremely popular. The table attracted a great deal of attention, with guests eagerly exploring photographs, records, and memorabilia from their time at School. Hilarity ensued around the infamous Detention Book, as former pupils delighted in sharing and comparing entries, prompting plenty of good-natured laughter.

The reunion was a joyful occasion, filled with warmth, friendship, and cherished memories. It was wonderful to see the Class of 1976 back together, celebrating the lifelong bonds formed during their years at St George's and marking this remarkable 50-year milestone in such memorable fashion.
