Week 7 ideas and activities*

1.  VE Day Celebrations
Okay, the street parties are cancelled, but are you doing anything at home to celebrate VE Day today?  Recreating a wartime menu?  Building an Anderson Shelter in your garden?  Setting up a 1940s playlist for the day?  To get you 'In the Mood' (sorry), here we have a video of Fluffy & Sparky's unique take on events of VE Day.  Well done to Connie & Charlotte from L4 for their ingenuity.  Follow St George's VEDay75 activites on the school's social media channels.

2.  Food & Cooking
It seems like home baking is such a popular activity that it's really hard to get hold of flour right now.  Here is a range of no flour recipes that will let you flex your baking muscles even when you're missing that key ingredient.  The choc chip cookie power bites are a great snack for kids - and one they can easily help make too!

3.  Staying Active
While he's doing an amazing job with his daily online PE sessions, not everybody can jump around with Joe Wicks.  We've been made aware of a range of exercises developed by fully qualified instructors, on behalf of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).  These are low-intensity exercises, designed to be done from home, for people living with long-term conditions.  Available on YouTube at the links below:

Meanwhile, keep checking St George's PE department for some great sporty ideas for all the family.

4.  Supporting local businesses
No apologies for featuring the Edinburgh Lockdown Economy again - a fantastic resource for information on local independent businesses offering services and activities during lockdown, which gets updated regularly as more and more people adapt their services.

Please do get in touch with any other ideas or tips you have, wherever you are in the world!  We'd love to hear from you.

Remember also that we have offers of help from among the Community - if anybody needs assistance with shopping etc, please get in touch and we can try to link you up.

With all best wishes from the St George's Foundation Office
