When we speak to the alumnae of St George’s, one message tends to come through consistently – the feeling that you are part of the St George’s Family.  Now more than ever is the time for us all to support each other – the alumnae, parents, current and former members of staff who make up this family.
We have been thinking about how the Foundation Office can offer support, using the power of the Network to bring the community together.
Please contact us at foundation@stge.org.uk if you’d like to be involved in any of the initiatives below:
  • Are you willing to offer practical help to anyone in your area?  This may be getting essential supplies, or simply offering a regular phone call to anyone who is struggling with self-isolation.  Let us know and we’ll set up a register of helpers.
  • Equally, if you’re self-isolating and need help, please let us know.
  • We are planning to publicise businesses which are doing home deliveries of food or other essential items to give you some ideas for getting supplies – if you are offering this type of service or have any recommendations, please send details and we'll set up a register here on the Foundation Network.
  • Send us your ideas for keeping healthy and entertained, including photos if you can.  We are going to set up a Network page to share activities, recipes, TV viewing tips, book recommendations.....and more.
  • We are going to publish a ‘5 questions with’.... feature.  Look out for a separate communication on this!
  • Perhaps you’d like to use this opportunity to get back in touch with people with whom you’ve lost contact?  Let us know and we’ll try to reconnect you.
We know what a creative group the St George’s Community is, so please do email us with any other suggestions and ideas.

Many of you have told us you like to hear what is going on at the school.  Staff have been utilising online technology such as Microsoft Teams and sharing ideas to support the girls with remote learning, which is working well so far. Some parental feedback:
“The school has been fantastic given the circumstances.  My daughter is in L6 and the school’s support for them has been amazing given the exam situation this year.  A big thank you to all the staff.”
“Love it, even mums and dads can join in!”
“I’ve been so impressed by the learning that has gone on.  Thank you so much to the teachers for bringing a sense of normality to this crazy situation.”

We hope that many members of the St George’s family will engage in some of these initiatives in the coming weeks and look forward to staying in touch with you.

With best wishes and warm regards,
The Foundation Office
