What subjects did you study and which ones did you enjoy the most? - French, English and Latin A Level and History Higher 

What extra-curricular activities were you involved in?  -  Singing and Drama 

Was there a particular teacher, mentor, or classmate who encouraged you to recognise your ambition or helped guide you towards your career path? - It was a long time ago! Mrs Clanchy was a big figure in the school 

What aspects of your time at St George's made the biggest impression on you? - A nice group of girls, and encouragement to work hard and achieve good academic outcomes. Extra curricular was also good - everyone did Duke of Edinburgh Award, good drama and music department. 

What did you pursue after leaving school? How did those choices influence your career path? - I took a gap year and then studied Modern Languages at Durham University. I think did a Masters in Broadcast Journalism and joined the BBC which I have just left, thirty or so years later. 

Could you describe your present position and the key duties you are responsible for?  - I have just left the BBC, but was an Assistant Editor in Live Political Programmes in BBC News. Now I am a Trustee of several charities and have just set a small one up to fund outdoor education at a school in Edinburgh 

Outside of work, what brightens your day or brings you joy? - My sons are now 21 and 19 - but when they are at home - they certainly bring me joy. I see a lot of my extended family and have a wide network of friends
