Class of 2014 Reunion lunch

What a lovely group of ladies.
What a lovely group of ladies.

A Decade of Memories

Not even Storm Bert could deter the determined Class of 2014 from making their way to St G’s for their milestone 10-year reunion. The weather was cold outside but atmosphere was anything but inside, as 38 OG’s gathered to celebrate.

The day began with refreshments in the St George’s Centre which was a great opportunity for the former classmates to reconnect before heading on a tour of the school. They marvelled at the school’s recent developments, perhaps most notably the recently renovated Sixth Form suite. It was described as ‘pure luxury’ by one of the alumnae who remembered their own more modest facilities.

A poignant moment came as the group entered the main hall and saw the exam desks set out in neat rows. This triggered an instantaneous and collective shiver of recognition. The sight took them back to their own exam days and the familiar butterflies that accompanied such tests.

The table of archives proved to be very popular and welcome. Yearbooks, Chronicles, photos and an array of school uniforms and badges sparked conversations and laughter as they shared their personal stories and memories.

Adding to the day’s significance was the presence of several former teachers, whose attendance was met with genuine enthusiasm from their past pupils showing the lasting bonds formed during the school years.

A decade might have passed since these lovely ladies left St George’s and they have all moved onto their various careers and life paths but the strength of their connection to the school and to each other remains unwavering.
