Iona Stephens

Iona Stephen (Class of 2008): Elite junior athlete turned professional golfer, now broadcaster covering major golf events and advocating for youth wellbeing.

Iona Stephen (Class of 2008) was a multi-talented athlete at St George's, playing squash, hockey, lacrosse, and athletics at the junior international level before discovering golf at university. After studying History of Art at St. Andrews and obtaining sports nutrition and personal training qualifications, Iona pursued professional golf.

Though a wrist injury ended her playing career, Iona's insights and personality made her a rising broadcast star. She has covered major events like The Masters, The Open, Solheim Cup, and Ryder Cup for networks like GolfTV, Sky Sports, BBC, and NBC. Iona made history in 2021 as the first female on-course commentator for the EA Sports golf video game.

Beyond golf, Iona is an ambassador for the charity BIG CHANGE, supporting young people's wellbeing. With a keen interest in optimizing health and energy for elite performance, she speaks on the topic across the UK. Iona also mentors through The Stephen Gallagher Foundation, exemplifying her commitment to empowering the next generation.
